Kyoto Postcards from the Edge (p.1)

This tree at Nijo castle. I regularly pass this spot on pushbike, and today noticed something was different. Mysteriously broken.

Kyoto local elections. This photo was actually taken earlier this year, and today I saw another canvassing van, only much larger. Homo politicus never sleeps.

Train delays attributed to jishin-jikko (an accident involving humans) are rather commonplace in Japan, especially on JR line - the suicide favourite. Sometimes it is a drunk or someone careless ending up on the railway tracks. The official English explanation manages to sound both odd and rather disturbing. Taken last week.
